Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I extend to you a cordial invitation to attend the 17^th biennial Congress of the South African Hypertension Society (SAHS), which will be held in the beautiful city of Cape Town from 3-5^th March, 2012.
The scientific programme will continue in the tradition of the SAHS meetings focusing on hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke prevention. The programme will also include: 1) A refresher day for hypertension practitioners 2) State-of-the-Art lectures and debates on topics of basic and clinical interest from international and national authorities in hypertension and cardiovascular disease 3) Satellite Symposia organized by Industry.

The programme will be under the responsibility of the Scientific Committee of SAHS. The meeting will be held in the Cape Sum Hotel in Cape Town, which has the most cost effective facilities for the scientific programme and suitable exhibition space for Industry. The hotel is situated in the heart of Cape Town, and is well connected to the popular Cape Town Waterfront. As for the 2009 meeting the 2012 SAHS meeting will provide CME credits.

Researchers are invited to submit original abstracts for presentation, which will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Committee. Successful abstracts will be published in the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa.
